How Charleston Dock Quotes works

Charleston Dock Quotes is a free local matching service. You tell us about your project once, and we pass it to a vetted local pro who works in your area.

  1. Tell us about your waterfrontYour town, the water you're on, what you want built or fixed, and your boat. About two minutes.
  2. We match you with a local proWe pass your request to one vetted marine contractor who works your area, usually within one business day.
  3. Get a site visit and quoteThe contractor contacts you to look at the site and give you a written quote, including how permitting would work. You decide.

What we are, and what we are not

  • We are a referral service. We are not a contractor or rental company, we don't do the work, and we don't hold any trade license.
  • Free for you. The pro may pay us a referral fee if you hire them. You never pay us, and the fee is never added to your price by us.
  • No obligation. Get the quote, ask questions, compare with anyone else. You decide.
  • Limited sharing. Your request goes to one pro for your trade, or two if the first can't help. We don't sell your details to lists or marketers. See Privacy.

How we vet pros

Before we send any requests to a business, we ask for and check:

  • The business name, owner and service area
  • Current South Carolina contractor license that matches the work (checked on SC LLR)
  • Proof of general liability insurance, and workers' compensation where required
  • Experience with SCDES critical-area permits for the kind of dock you want
  • A written quote and written warranty terms, and agreement to our no-pressure rules

Vetting reduces risk but is not a guarantee. Always get a written quote, check the business's current license and insurance yourself, and read the contract before you sign. You can look up South Carolina contractor licenses through SC LLR.

Questions to ask before you hire

  • Who prepares the permit drawings and files the SCDES application, and is that in the price?
  • What pilings, decking and hardware are you quoting for saltwater, and why?
  • How will the dock and lift height be set for the tide range at my site?
  • Is a boat lift included? What capacity, brand and motor?
  • What's the realistic timeline, from permit to finished build?
  • Is removal of an old dock included?
  • What does the warranty cover, and for how long?

Referral service disclosure. Charleston Dock Quotes is not a contractor. We pass your request to an independent local pro who may pay us a referral fee if you hire them. That never costs you anything extra, and you are never obligated to hire anyone. Full disclosure.
